Frequently Asked Questions

How do I self-administer the injection?

Wegovy, Ozempic, and Tirzepatide are subcutaneous injections that can be administered in your thigh, abdomen, or back of the upper arm. The most common injection site is around the belly button. Be sure to rotate injection sites to prevent scar tissue from forming. Our medical team will show you how to inject it properly and will be available for any additional questions.

What should I do if I experience side effects while taking GLP-1 medication?

If you experience side effects while taking GLP-1 medication, reach out to our medical team for support. We may be able to adjust your dosage or recommend a different medication.

Do I have to exercise and follow a specific diet while taking the medication?

It’s important to keep in mind that the benefits of GLP-1 medications and lifestyle changes are most effectively seen when combined. Our medical team can help create a personalized plan that fits your goals.

Here are some benefits of combining physical activity and a healthy diet with your GLP-1 medication:

  1. Improved blood sugar control: Exercise can improve insulin sensitivity and lower blood sugar levels, which can be further enhanced by the GLP-1 medication. A healthy diet can also help manage blood sugar levels.

  2. Weight loss: Regular physical activity can promote weight loss, and semaglutide can also help with weight loss by reducing appetite. A healthy diet that is low in added sugars, saturated fats, and processed foods can also support weight loss.

  3. Reduced risk of diabetes complications: Maintaining good blood sugar control and losing weight can help reduce the risk of diabetes-related complications such as heart disease, kidney disease, and neuropathy.

  4. Improved cardiovascular health: Regular physical activity can improve cardiovascular health by reducing blood pressure and cholesterol levels, and semaglutide may also have a positive effect on cardiovascular health.

  5. Increased physical fitness: Exercise can improve physical fitness, strength, and endurance, which can lead to an improved quality of life.

Are there any side effects?

It is uncommon to experience side effects when taking GLP-1 medication, with most patients not reporting any. The most prevalent side effect is nausea, which usually goes away in the first few weeks of treatment. If you do encounter any side effects, our medical team is readily available to provide support. Studies have shown that less than 5% of people on GLP-1 medication have discontinued use due to negative side effects.

Will be insurance cover the medication?

Most commercial insurance plans will cover GLP-1 medications once the deductible has been met, but coverage can vary between plans. Our team of experts can assist you in finding a GLP-1 medication prescription for as low as $25/month.
