Microneedling is a minimally invasive treatment that effectively reduces the appearance of acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, uneven skin texture, and minimizes pore size. Micro-needles are meticulously used to stimulate the skin’s natural ability to produce collagen and elastin.
You can repeat microneedling every four weeks until the desired improvement has been accomplished. The number of treatments necessary varies from person to person, based on how your skin reacts to the procedure. Most people achieve the best results with 3 to 6 treatments between 4 and 6 weeks apart. Deeper acne scars or more pronounced wrinkles may require additional treatments.
A local numbing cream will be applied to the treatment area before the procedure to eliminate any discomfort. Most clients only report feeling a slight vibration of the Skinpen. The appointment will last approximately one hour. This includes 30 minutes to allow the anesthetic cream to take effect and 30 minutes for the actual procedure. When preparing for your SkinPen micro-needling treatment, it is essential to discontinue the use of topical retinoids or other exfoliating creams for a minimum of 24 hours before the procedure.
The magic happens for the next several days after the Skinpen micro-needling treatment. Since most healing occurs during this time, sun exposure and sweaty exercise should be avoided for the next 72 hours. To prevent the skin from drying out after the procedure, the nurse will provide you with Skinfuse® LIFT, a clean, non-cytotoxic hydrogel. Also, include SPF and hydration into your skincare regimen, especially in the first 5-7 days post-procedure.
